About the race
Spekbos Josty Trail Run Challenge takes place in Lategansvlei near Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape on 21 November 2026. The event is organised as a fundraiser for the Lategansvlei community and uses trail routes that are open to participants only on race day.
Routes run through Klein Karoo terrain and offer varied surfaces and views. The programme includes three distance options:
- 21 km Trail Run for experienced trail runners
- 14 km Trail Run for those seeking a demanding trail experience
- 5 km Fun Walk / Run aimed at families and beginners
Entry fees listed for the distances include R200 for the 21 km, R150 for the 14 km and R50 for the 5 km fun run. Online entries close the day before the event and late entries are available on race morning. The venue is Lategansvlei Soccer Stadium, Lategansvlei, Oudtshoorn; coordinates are provided for the stadium location.
Prize money is offered for male and female finishers in the longer events. For the 21 km the prizes are R1,500, R1,000 and R500 for the first three places. For the 14 km the prizes are R750, R550 and R350 for the first three places. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
