Speedy PD Race for Parkinson's Disease
Speedy PD is an annual running event held at Tuttle Creek State Park in the River Pond area. The event includes multiple distances and community walking options designed for a broad range of participants.
- Half mile memorial walk/run
- 5K race
- 10K race
The 5K and 10K courses have been USATF certified since 2013 and are laid out entirely on paved roads. The 5K remains very flat to the finish, while the 10K is described as flat and shaded for much of the route. Both courses offer scenic views of the lake, and volunteers and supporters commonly line the course. Routes are stroller friendly.
Proceeds benefit the Meadowlark Parkinson's Program, which serves the Flint Hills region. The program provides services and resources for people with Parkinson's disease, caregivers, therapists, and nurses. Donations support education, outreach, scholarships for medical purposes, medical care, and plans for a future Parkinson's resource center for the Kansas region.
Packet pick up is available inside the Holiday Inn at the Campus in Manhattan on the day before the race, with additional packet pick up at Race Headquarters on race morning. The event schedule spans late August 2026 and registration for the 18th annual race is listed as open. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
