Special Olympics Kuringgai Chase Fun Run 2026
The Kuringgai Chase is a community event held in Wahroonga, New South Wales. It functions as both a fun run and a carnival, with a course that travels through leafy residential streets. The event is a collaborative effort involving the Special Olympics Sydney Upper North Shore Club, Ku-ring-gai Council, Knox Grammar School, and the Rotary Club of Wahroonga.
The event features several distance options to accommodate different participants:
- 10 km Fun Run or Walk
- 5 km Fun Run or Walk
- 2 km Dash
The 5 km route consists of a single lap, while the 10 km event is completed by performing two laps of the same course. Participants on these longer routes encounter "Kokoda Hill," which provides views over the Ku-Ring-Gai National Park. The 2 km course is designed as a flat race for all levels.
This is an inclusive event open to individuals and teams of all ages. Discounts are available for children participating in the longer distances, and special registration rates are provided for Special Olympics athletes and Companion Card holders. All timed races start and finish at Claude Cameron Grove on Westbrook Avenue. In addition to the physical races, the event serves as a fundraiser for the Special Olympics Sydney Upper North Shore Club, which supports over 200 athletes.
