Southern Lakes Ultra
The Southern Lakes Ultra is a multi day stage run through the Southern Lakes and Alps of Central Otago, New Zealand. The event is organised as seven days of activity across six competitive stages, covering approximately 250 km in total.
The route begins on the shores of the Southern Lakes and travels through a mix of terrain including rivers, lakes, mountain tracks, valleys, peaks, waterfalls, ski fields, old gold mining towns, canyons and forests. Portions of the course require river crossings and varied trail navigation, and the sequence of stages finishes in Queenstown.
The event schedule for 2027 spans late February and includes pre event registration and gear check, organised transport to an initial camp, six race stages over successive days and an awards dinner following the final stage. Entry history shows editions from 2022 through 2026 sold out, with the 2026 edition reaching capacity five months before the event.
Event information describes multiple race options, equipment and rules, and provides logistical arrangements for participants across the multi day format. The presentation focuses on stage distances and terrain rather than a single continuous timed course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
