South West Coast 50 : event overview
The South West Coast 50 is an Ultra Challenge event taking place on Saturday 25 July 2026 with Dunster basecamp as the start and finish location near Dunster Castle. The main route is a 50 km loop that follows the South West Coast Path and crosses Exmoor, with approximately 1600 m of climb. The event also offers shorter route options and a family-friendly 10K loop around the Deer Park next to the castle. Camping packages are available for Friday and Saturday at the Dunster basecamp.

- 50 km loop, Dunster to Dunster, ~1600 m climb
- 25 km loop, first half along coastal path, ~600 m climb
- 25 km second half, over Exmoor back to basecamp, ~1000 m climb
- 10 km loop around the Deer Park
Support, categories and logistics
The event provides signed routes with route markers and GPS tracking via an event app. Rest stops are supplied approximately every 12.5 km, with larger facilities about every 25 km including marquee cover, catering, seating, medical and welfare tents. Food and drink are provided at snacks and meal points; dietary needs are catered for. Medical cover includes doctors, paramedics, first aid, podiatry and massage teams, plus a 24-hour control room and mobile emergency medical teams. Transport options include transfers and shuttle buses between key venues and local train stations. Entry categories include an Ultra March option for timed walkers and a new Trailblazerz category for faster competitive runners. Finishers receive a medal, T-shirt and a finish-line drink.
