South Mountain ThrowDown Lite
South Mountain ThrowDown Lite is a grassroots, shorter-scale test of a future 24 hour event held at South Mountain YMCA property in Reinholds, PA. The Lite version runs for ten hours on a short, repeatable loop and is limited to 100 runners.
The course is a roughly 2.5 mile loop using Peak Side trails with dirt, grass, and gravel surfaces. Each lap includes one substantial climb that reaches the Cushion Peak overlook and then a meandering gravel descent back toward the old fountain steps and the start/finish at the old carriage house. Measured climb per loop is about 660 feet.
The event provides basic aid and logistics covered by a $15 fee. There are no awards and no additional race frills. Pacers are not permitted for this edition. Camping is not available this year.
Spectators are welcome; there is space at the start/finish for pop ups and crew areas. Non-racing visitors may access the Cushion Peak overlook or use nearby recreational features such as the frisbee golf area. Registration closes Wed, Apr 22 @ 11:59 PM ET.
The Lite event is presented as a test run to inform a larger 24 hour South Mountain ThrowDown planned for the future. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
