South Mountain Throwdown Lite
The South Mountain Throwdown Lite is a timed running event held at South Mountain YMCA in Reinholds, Pennsylvania. This grassroots event serves as a foundation for a future 24-hour race and focuses on a simple, repeatable course structure. Participants have a 10 hour window to complete as many loops as they choose on the designated trail system.
The course is approximately 2.5 miles long with 660 feet of elevation gain per lap. The route utilizes several surface types including dirt, grass, and gravel trails. Starting at the old carriage house, the path winds through the woods before reaching a single substantial climb. This ascent leads to the Cushion Peak overlook. From the summit, runners follow a meandering gravel road back down to the start and finish area via the old fountain steps.
The event features the following distance format:
- 10 Hour timed run
Registration is limited to 100 participants. Basic aid is provided on-site to assist runners during the 10-hour period. While there are no formal awards or camping facilities for this edition, there is space at the start and finish area for spectators, crews, and pop-up tents. Only laps completed before the final cutoff time are included in a runner's total. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
