About the race
The South Downs Trail Run starts and finishes at Goodwood Racecourse and follows routes into the South Downs National Park. The course weaves through forest tracks, tree lined bridleways, and single-track trails, skirts the edge of Levin Down and includes a section of the South Downs Way. After a downhill into East Dean the route includes a final climb back to Goodwood Racecourse.
The event offers three distance options:
- 21.3 km Half Marathon
- 16.5 km Medium route
- 12 km Short route, includes canicross
Each route is chip timed and fully signed. On-course support includes water stations, first aid cover, course marshals and photographers. Finishers receive a high-quality metal medal, a refreshing drink, a finisher goodie and a personalised certificate. The race surface mixes forest fire roads, bridleways and single-track trails and has measurable elevation gain on each distance.
Event notes include plastic free provisions with reusable cup or bottle recommended, one dog per runner for canicross, and guidance to carry suitable food and drink.
