Sound to Narrows
The Sound to Narrows is a community event held at Vassault Park in Tacoma, Washington. This event observes 54 years of competition in the South Sound area and features multiple course options that showcase the local landscape, including views of the water and forested areas with tall trees.
The event offers several distances for participants:
- 12k Run or Walk
- 5k Run or Walk
- 2k Run/Walk
- 20 Yards Diaper Dash
The 12k signature route includes a course with hills, water views, and wooded sections. The 5k route is designed as a faster alternative, though it also contains hilly terrain. For those interested in walking, the 12k and 5k walk options are untimed, allowing participants to move at their own pace through the trees. The 2k distance is a timed event available for both youth and adults.
Younger athletes can participate in specialized categories, including the 2k race and the 20 yard Diaper Dash for children aged 4 and younger. In addition to the in-person activities in Tacoma, a virtual participation option allows individuals to complete their own route from any location.
