Sound the Alarm 5K
The Sound the Alarm 5K takes place in Independence, Kentucky, on Madison Pike through the historical portion of the city. The course is a gentle out-and-back route with elevation changes under 45 feet.
Event options include:
- 3.1 miles 5K run
- 3.1 miles 5K walk
- 3.1 miles virtual 5K run or walk
There is no race day registration. Packet pick up is available the Friday before at Tri-State Running Company in Edgewood and at the race site the morning of the event; shirts and bibs can be picked up on race morning for those who could not collect them on Friday. Virtual participants receive a shirt and medal by mail after the live event, and a digital race bib is available.
Overall prizes are awarded to the top three men and women by gun time. Age group awards are determined by chip time for men and women in multiple age brackets from under 15 through 65 and older; overall winners are not eligible for age group awards. Participants have 90 minutes to complete the course, after which they will be asked to move to the sidewalk to finish. Swag bags are included with registration.
The event’s mission is to raise awareness and financial support for the families of first responders killed in the line of duty. This edition supports Supporting Heroes in partnership with Independence Professional Firefighters Union Local 3945 and Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
