Sound the Alarm 5K
The Sound the Alarm 5K is a community run and walk held at Independence Fire Station No. 1 in Independence, Kentucky. The course is a gentle out-and-back along Madison Pike through a historic portion of town, with elevation changes of less than 45 feet. The event includes in-person and virtual options.

- Virtual 5K Run/Walk, 3.1 miles
Packet pickup is available at Tri-State Running Company in Edgewood the day before the event and at the race site on race morning; shirts and bibs can be collected at either location. Virtual participants receive a shirt and medal by mail after the live event, and a digital race bib is available for download.
Competition awards include overall prizes for the top three men and women determined by gun time. Age-group awards are determined by chip time and are given to top finishers in the age categories for men and women; overall winners are not eligible for age-group awards. Age-group categories include youth and multiple adult brackets up to 65 and older.
All participants share a single start area with no corrals; faster runners are asked to position toward the front and walkers toward the back. Participants have 90 minutes to complete the course, after which they will be asked to move to the sidewalk to finish. Swag bags are included with registration. There is no race day registration.
The event raises funds to support the families of first responders killed in the line of duty and will assist Supporting Heroes and local partner organizations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
