The Solidarity Sidekick Down Route 66 Stop 13 in Springfield is a 6.6K run/walk that moves through the capital city of Illinois and centers on the Lincoln Home National Historic Site at 426 S 7th St. The route passes preserved streets, historic homes, and sections of original Route 66 pavement, linking the city’s historic fabric with the event’s statewide series.
This stop is part of a multi-stop Route 66 series that supports ALS awareness. The series features a solo runner completing the Illinois stretch of Route 66; at each stop participants join the runner for a shared Sidekick segment of 2.1 miles, intended as a symbolic act of solidarity with people and families affected by ALS.
Participants receive an official series medal and earn a Route 66 charm for each completed stop to add to that medal. Event shirts are optional and available for purchase during registration. The event includes a custom Stop 13 bib, a Springfield Route 66 charm, and a post-run celebration with the Spirits Run community.
