Solidarity Sidekick down Route 66 Stop 11 Lincoln 6.6K
Stop 11 of the Solidarity Sidekick Down Route 66 series is a 6.6K run and walk through Lincoln, Illinois. The course follows a stretch of the historic Route 66 corridor and is anchored at the Railsplitter Covered Wagon located at 1750 5th St, featuring the large wagon and the Abraham Lincoln figure atop it. The route is described as scenic and offers a distinctive local landmark as a backdrop.
The series supports a solo effort covering the Illinois portion of Route 66 to honor people living with ALS. At each stop participants join the solo runner for a shared 2.1 mile segment, a symbolic sidekick portion intended to show solidarity with families affected by ALS. The event is open to all paces and all ages and is organized as part of a multi-stop statewide effort. The 6.6 kilometer distance is presented as a tribute to the Mother Road and the long journeys faced by families, with participants able to collect a Stop 11 recognition as part of the series.
