Solar 5k/15k
The 13th Solar 5k/15k, formerly called the Polar Vortex, is organized by Team Brunazzi Events in Boston, PA on August 8, 2027. Distances offered include:

The course follows a flat rails-to-trails route surfaced with crushed limestone. Water stops are provided at mile 1.55, the 5k turnaround, and at mile 4.66, the 15k turnaround. The event is sanctioned by USATF.
Awards are given to the top three overall men and women, masters men and women, and the top three in each age group: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70+. Medals will not be mailed and duplications are not allowed.
Registration opens 12/20/2026 and closes 12/31/2026. The listed registration fee is $20.00. The organizer notes a zero refund policy; race or distance transfers are allowed before the race but distances may not be changed after the race starts. Special cross country team pricing is available for middle and high school teams; inquiries should be directed to the organizer.
Preregistered runners receive a shirt if they sign up by the specified ordering date; extra shirts are available first come, first served. Shirts will not be ordered after the race and will not be mailed. No headphones or pets are allowed. Proceeds benefit Elizabeth Forward Meals on Wheels.
