Sokolský běh republiky: San Francisco
Sokolský běh republiky in San Francisco is organized as a race format. Official timing may not use an electronic timing device, but results and awards are planned. Packet pickup is available on site; each participant receives a race number, small partner gifts, and a medal in the shape of the republic.
Distances offered:
- 4 km main race
- 850 m children born 2012–2016
- 400 m children born 2017 and younger
The main course starts near the playground and climbs a sandy path to a hill with a view. Runners descend toward the sea, continue on a flat asphalt sidewalk north for about one kilometre, turn and return along a parallel trail, finishing back at the playground. The route is suitable for strollers and for walkers. Children’s routes follow the sandy hill path with a view of the bay and San Francisco.
Event facilities are at Seals Point Park with Ryder's Park Picnic Area as the race base. The park offers a playground, toilets, drinking fountains, picnic tables, grills, and on-site parking. A community picnic follows the race; Sokol SF and the Czech School of California provide charcoal and light refreshments, and participants may bring food to share. No additional supporting program is provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
