Event Overview
Socal's Tiki Beach 5K & 10K Run/Walk is an annual event held at Bolsa Chica State Park in Huntington Beach. Established in 2014, the event features a Polynesian theme with live drummers and dancers from Tupua Productions performing throughout the venue. The course follows a flat, scenic out-and-back route along a paved beach path with views of the ocean.
Participants can choose from several distances:
- 10K Run/Walk
- 5K Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Fun Run
- 400-yard Kid’s Dash
Amenities and Features
All participants receive a custom Polynesian-style race shirt and a Tiki finisher medal. Alternatively, participants may choose a custom beach towel instead of a shirt while supplies last. An expo area is open during the event, featuring various food and beverage options for purchase, including island-inspired pancakes, specialty coffee, street tacos, barbecue sandwiches, and Hawaiian shaved ice.
The race utilizes RFID chip timing. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in the 5K and 10K categories, as well as to winners in age group divisions ranging from five-year increments up to age 80 and above.
Logistics
Parking is available at Bolsa Chica State Beach Lot 25 for a state park fee, or in public parking areas in Sunset Beach which requires a walk into the park. Strollers are permitted on the course. Leashed pets are also allowed if accompanied by a participant, provided the leash is five feet or shorter. Results and participation support various global and local community outreach projects.
