24 Hour Ultra Trail Challenge on Yr Wyddfa

Snowdon24 is an endurance ultra trail race taking place on Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), the highest mountain in Eryri (Snowdonia), standing at 1,085 m. The event is based in Llanberis and centers on a 24-hour challenge where participants aim to complete as many ascents and descents of the mountain as possible within the time limit.

The event offers different participation formats:

  • Solo - Individual runners competing for maximum laps or targeting specific UTMB-indexed distances.
  • Teams - Relays for pairs or teams of up to 5 people working together toward a shared lap goal.

This competition is UTMB Indexed, providing qualifying and preparation opportunities for UTMB Mont Blanc. The individual challenges include 50k, 100k, and 100 mile indexed categories. The race starts and finishes at the foot of the mountain, and the current course record for a solo runner stands at 8 laps.

The event village provides a range of facilities including toilets, food, shopping, music, and live commentary during daylight hours. Participants have access to rest areas featuring a silent respite zone, tent pitches, and a chill-out area. On-course support includes signage, marshals, and Mountain Leader assistance. Registration, signage, and commentary are provided in both English and Welsh. Finishers receive unique mementos designed to reflect the local history and location. Timing is managed through professional chip tracking with results posted online. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
