Event overview

Black Diamond Yr Wyddfa | Snowdon24 is a 24-hour ultra trail challenge based at Y Ganolfan in Llanberis, Eryri (Snowdonia). The course starts and finishes at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), the highest mountain in England and Wales at 1,085 m (3,560 ft). Participants aim to ascend and descend the mountain as many times as possible within 24 hours. The event is UTMB-indexed.

Format and categories

The event offers solo and team relay entries. Teams may have up to five members and pairs are also accepted. Solo categories include the following UTMB-indexed distances:

  • 50k
  • 100k
  • 100-mile

The current solo record is eight full ascents.

Logistics, services and charity

Event facilities include an event village with toilets, food outlets, shopping, music and daylight commentary, plus rest areas and tent pitches. On-course support comprises marshals, signage and Mountain Leader support. Professional timing with chip timing, tracking and online results is provided. The event is bilingual in English and Welsh. The official charity partner is Cancer Research Wales; fundraisers for other charities are also welcome. Free charity places are offered with a minimum sponsorship requirement of £500, and fundraisers who raise more than £50 may receive a shirt from the charity.
