Event Details

The Sneakers & Strays event is organized by hart and takes place on June 6, 2026. It is a "fun-run" to raise funds and awareness for hart's mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home stray and abandoned dogs.

Format and Course

The event is offered in two main formats.

In-person: On June 6 at Buena Vista Dog Park in Edmonton's river valley, near the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Participants can walk or run with or without their dog.
Virtual: Takes place over four days from June 3 to June 6. Participants can run or walk on their own time, wherever they are.

Two distances are available for the in-person event:

A 5 km run.
A 3 km walk.

The event will continue rain, shine, or smoke.

Fundraising and Practical Information

All funds raised go towards hart's ongoing operations. Prizes are awarded for top fundraising by an individual and by a team. Post-race activities include complimentary beverages and snacks, and hart merchandise.
