2026 Sneakers & Strays
Sneakers & Strays is an annual fundraising event organized by hart to support the rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing of stray and abandoned dogs. The event takes place at the Buena Vista Dog Park in Edmonton, located in the river valley next to the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Participants can register as individuals or form teams to collect donations.
The event offers several participation formats:
- 5 km Run (in-person)
- 3 km Walk (in-person)
- Virtual run or walk (remote or local options)
The in-person course leads participants through Edmonton's River Valley. Runners and walkers are permitted to bring their dogs to participate alongside them. Post-race activities at the park include complimentary beverages and snacks, sponsor booths, and the opportunity to purchase organization merchandise. The virtual component allows participants to complete their chosen distance over a four-day period leading up to the main event date.
Swag bags are available for pickup at the park on the day of the event for in-person and local virtual registrants. All funds raised through registration and fundraising efforts contribute to the ongoing operations of the rescue charity. The event proceeds in various weather conditions, including rain or shine.
