About the race
Smoketree Zombie Fun Run is an annual Halloween-themed event held in the Smoketree neighborhood. The event combines a costumed 5K run with a separate 1-mile family walk. The 2026 edition is identified as the fifth annual event and includes a new course feature called the Spirea Dead End, where runners follow the route and then return the same way.
The 5K route follows neighborhood roads and includes themed actors and Halloween decorations positioned along the course. Neighborhood block parties and decorations line parts of the route. The family walk is a separate, one-mile route with no zombies. Both the run and the walk begin and end at Smoketree Pool, 11100 Smoketree Drive, North Chesterfield, VA 23236.
Distances:
- 5K route through neighborhood roads with costumed actors
- 1 mile family walk with no zombies
The description on the course page notes that residents on the route may receive specific information, and that the event returns to the pool after completing each course. The Spirea Dead End is presented as a new, themed element for 2026 that alters the 5K turning pattern before runners head back to the start.
