SMOC Fall Two Day - Day 2

This orienteering event takes place at Waterloo HQ as the second day of a two day series. Courses are point to point and require following checkpoints in order using a detailed topographic map and compass. The competition area includes big ridges, flatter mixed prairie, subtle multi-depression land, significant climbs, and possible farmland. The area near the start and finish is designated no hunting; longer courses should plan on wearing orange.

Organizers request registration by Thursday so maps can be printed; a late fee applies after that. Entry is charged per start or group with stated pricing: $15 standard, $10 for members with a coupon code, $5 for juniors, and $5 for an extra map. Volunteer options may offer free entry. The venue is a Rec Passport DNR site; a vehicle plate checkbox may be required.

Loaner compasses are available. Course choices vary by distance and technical difficulty, from beginner trail courses to expert courses with small off-trail features. Course descriptions include estimated walking times and notes on visibility of flags and cross country travel. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
