The Smile-A-Mile 5K is a fundraising event on 08/29/2026 that starts and finishes at SAM Place in downtown Birmingham and includes post-race activities and awards. The event supports the organization’s mission to serve children and families affected by pediatric cancer.

Registration opens 06/01/2026 and closes 08/09/2026. Fees listed for each event include $35.00 for the 5K events and $20.00 for the 1M Fun Run. Chip timing is included for all in-person 5K participants. Finisher medals will be given to all who complete the in-person 5K and the Fun Run. Awards are given to first place finishers, male and female, by age group.
The virtual 5K allows participants to run, walk, or sleep in while supporting Smile-A-Mile; virtual participant packets will be shipped automatically beginning the week of the run. Smile-A-Mile began 41 years ago with a single summer camp session and has expanded to provide year-round programming that serves children and their families from diagnosis through the years beyond treatment.
