Smelter City Scamper
The Smelter City Scamper is a long-distance running and walking event held in Anaconda, Montana. Organized by the Anaconda Community Market, the event serves as a fundraiser to support local food access programs and community health initiatives. The race takes place during Smeltermen's Day weekend, with all courses starting and finishing at Kennedy Commons.
Participants can choose from several different distances:
- 1/2 Marathon
- 10K Run
- 5K Run or Walk
- 1 Block Sprint (for children ages 8 and under)
The 1 Block Sprint is a free event for younger participants. All other categories require a registration fee, with price increases occurring after late March. The finish line area at Kennedy Commons transitions into the Smeltermen's Day Brewfest following the conclusion of the races. This local event is designed for residents and visitors to support the strengthening of regional food systems while participating in physical activity.
