Slieve Bawn
Slieve Bawn is a mountain running event in County Roscommon held on Saturday 25th July 2026. The main race is an 8.00 km loop with about 250 m of climb. The course is on hard packed gravel roads and is run as one continuous anticlockwise loop. The route is fully marked and GPS use is not allowed.
A junior and short course option is provided as an out and back of approximately 4.5 km with about 100 m of elevation gain. Route map and course profile are provided in the event maps information.

Entry opens Monday 20th July 2026 at 21:00 and closes Friday 24th July 2026 at 18:00. Entry cost is €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. The field is limited to 250 entries. The race forms part of the Galway League and the North West League. Event difficulty rating is listed as Easy Terrain with 200 m to 500 m ascent and 6 km to 10 km distance.
Mandatory kit is Level B and must be carried; this includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. The specific kit to be carried during the race may be finalised on the day and will be advised at registration. Failure to have required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification; random checks may be carried out.
The meeting point and car park is at the Sliabh Bawn Wind Farm Recreation Area parking beside wind turbine T20. Prizegiving and refreshments will take place near the finish at the registration area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
