The Slieve Bawn race, organized by the Irish Mountain Running Association, takes place in County Roscommon. The event features an 8.1 km course with a 270-meter climb, rated as an easy mountain run. The route is a single anticlockwise loop on hard-packed gravel trails and roads, starting with a steep 1 km uphill section, followed by a summit at 2 km, a fast downhill, and a scenic forested area near historical ruins.
The final kilometer is a fast descent back to the car park finish. Juniors can participate in a shorter 3 km loop. Mandatory safety kit is required, and prizegiving occurs at the finish area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
Always double-check with the organizer's website – things can change, and we might have sprinted past a few details!
