Slieve Bawn
Slieve Bawn is a mountain running event in County Roscommon held on Saturday 25th July 2026. The main route is an anticlockwise loop on hard packed gravel roads covering 8.00 km with approximately 250 m of ascent. A junior and short course option is provided as an out-and-back of 4.50 km with about 100 m of ascent.
Entry details list an entry limit of 250 places. Entry fees are €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries open Monday 20th July 2026 at 21:00 and close Friday 24th July 2026 at 18:00. The event is listed in the Galway League and the North West League.
The route is fully marked and GPS devices are not permitted. Mandatory Level B kit applies; all runners must bring a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, whistle, a charged mobile phone with the emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag or equivalent. The required kit to be carried during the race will be confirmed at registration on the day. Random checks may be carried out and failure to have required items may result in denied entry or disqualification.
The meeting point and race start/finish are at the main car park at Sliabh Bawn Wind Farm Recreation Area beside turbine T20. Prizegiving and refreshments take place near the finish at the registration area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
