The event includes several different races and walks. Participants can register for these categories:
- 5k adult
- 5k youth (18 and under)
- 2 mile walk adult
- 2 mile walk youth (18 and under)
All events start together.
Course Details
The 5k route is described as a backcountry course. It includes several hills and a section called the "coal mine climb," which ascends a slate mound and passes a town sign overlooking Slickville.
The 2-mile walk follows a gentler course. The first half goes through town, and the second half returns to the finish line on the Westmoreland Heritage Trail.
Registration & Day-of Information
Registration is available on the day of the event at the race site. Day-of registration opens at 7:00 AM and closes at 8:15 AM.
Prices are listed by category: $25 for the adult 5k, $20 for the youth 5k, and $15 for both the adult and youth 2-mile walks.
Additional Activities
The event is part of the Slickville Community Days celebration. After finishing, all participants receive a complimentary pancake breakfast with locally sourced maple syrup.
The day includes other activities such as a car show, craft and food booths, children's activities, games like cow patty bingo, musical entertainment, and a fireworks display after dark.
