Event details
The Sliabhriadh mountain race takes place in County Limerick on Sunday 26 April 2026. The main course distance is 15.30 km with a short course of 5.00 km. The course climb is listed as 549 m. The event is part of the Coillte Summer/Autumn Trail League, Munster. GPS navigation is allowed and the route is shown as fully marked. Entry details have not yet been published.
Route and location
Registration and race start are at Davy's Cottage, directly opposite Ballinvreena Community Hall, between Kilfinnane and Garryspillane. The route begins across the road from the community centre, passes an old lime kiln, crosses stiles, drops into and rises out of a hollow, enters forestry and follows a fire road to about 1.7 km. A narrow path then leads to the trig pillar and communications mast near the summit at about 3 km before descending past turbines and continuing to complete the course.
Mandatory kit and event rules
The event requires Level B - Standard kit. Items listed are a waterproof jacket; hat or buff; gloves; whistle; charged mobile phone with emergency number stored; and a foil blanket, bivvy bag or equivalent. All runners must carry the required items; absence of required kit may lead to denied entry or disqualification. Random kit checks may be carried out.
Volunteers and parking
Volunteers must have completed two non-running volunteer roles in a calendar year to qualify for the end-of-year prize. Runners are advised that parking near the hall is limited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
