About the race
The Wizz Air Skopje Marathon is a major international sporting event held in the capital of North Macedonia. The race is organized by the Sport Union of Skopje and the Athletic Club "Skopski Maraton." As a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), the event follows the rules of World Athletics and the Athletics Federation of North Macedonia.
The event offers several race categories to accommodate different preferences:
- Marathon: A full distance of 42.195 km.
- Half Marathon: A distance of 21.097 km.
- Marathon Relay: For teams of four, covering distances of 10 km and 11 km.
- 5 km Race: A shorter distance of 5000 m.
- Team Building Race: A category for corporate or group participation.
The course features designated start boxes for the marathon and half marathon based on target times. Time limits are strictly enforced, with 5 hours and 30 minutes allowed for the marathon and relay, and 1 hour for the 5 km race. Participants must wear their assigned start bib on the front of their shirts, as it contains the timing chip.
Services for participants include refreshment points along the track, medical care, personal belongings storage, and toilets at the start and finish lines. Runners who complete the marathon, half marathon, or relay receive a participation medal. Registered participants who complete their payment by the specified late-August deadline also receive a T-shirt in their start package.
