Skokie's Backlot Dash 5K and 1/2 Mile Youth Color Run
Skokie's Backlot Dash includes a 5K run/walk and a half-mile kids color run held in and around the Backlot Bash grounds in Downtown Skokie at 5215 Oakton St, Skokie, Illinois. The main event date is August 29, 2026. Registration for events opened March 4, 2026; the 5K registration window closed May 4, 2026 and the kids event registration closed August 26, 2026.

Packet pick-up is scheduled on the days before the event at Weber Leisure Center, 9300 Weber Park Place, and at the Backlot Bash location by Floral St and Oakton St. Race day packet pick-up is available inside the Backlot Bash grounds at the beer tent on Oakton St.
Registered 5K participants receive chip timing, a t-shirt, and the course is USATF certified; one free beer is listed for 5K participants. Kids who participate receive a t-shirt and a participation medal. Age-group awards cover standard male and female brackets from 14 and under through 85 and over. An awards ceremony follows the 5K. The event is presented by local community partners including the Skokie Chamber of Commerce, Skokie Public Library, Village of Skokie, Skokie Park District, and Niles Township High School District 219.
