Skokie's Backlot Dash 5K and 1/2 Mile Youth Color Run
Skokie's Backlot Dash features a USATF certified 5K run/walk and a half mile kids color fun run held in and around the Backlot Bash grounds in downtown Skokie. The event includes age-group competition for male and female runners across standard age brackets, beginning with 14 and under and continuing in five-year increments up to 85 and over.

Packet pick-up is offered on the two days before the event and on race day at the event grounds. Locations for packet pick-up include the Weber Leisure Center and a pick-up point by the intersection of Floral Street and Oakton Street, with race day pick-up inside the Backlot Bash grounds at the beer tent on Oakton Street.
5K participants receive chip timing, a T-shirt, and one free beer, and the course is USATF certified. Kids who run the half mile receive a T-shirt and a participation medal. An awards ceremony follows the 5K. Organizers and presenting partners include the Skokie Chamber of Commerce, Skokie Public Library, Village of Skokie, Skokie Park District, and Niles Township High School District 219.
