Skokie's Backlot Dash 5K and Kid's Color Run takes place on August 29, 2026, in Downtown Skokie around the Backlot Bash grounds at 5215 Oakton St, Skokie, IL.
The event includes these distances:
- 3.1 Miles (5K Run/Walk)
- 0.5 Miles (Kids Half Mile Color Fun Run)
Registration opens March 4, 2026. Pre-race registration deadlines differ by event; the 5K has an earlier registration close date and the kids run has a later close date. Registration fees are listed as $35 for the 5K and $20 for the kids run.
Packet pick-up is available on the days before the event and on race day at locations tied to the Backlot Bash, including the Weber Leisure Center at 9300 Weber Park Place and a pick-up spot near Floral Street and Oakton Street inside the Backlot Bash grounds.
Participants in the 5K receive chip timing, a T-shirt, and will run a USATF certified course; the 5K entry also includes one free beer. Kids in the color run receive a white logo T-shirt and a participation medal. Awards are presented for 1st place male and female overall and 1st through 3rd place in age groups; age categories range from 14 and under up to 85 and over.
