SilverBackTrails Goathland V Trigs
This is a self-navigated running and walking challenge that starts and finishes at the Village Hall in Goathland, in The North York Moors National Park. Participants follow a course of approximately 37 miles and must visit five listed Triangulation Pillars in the order given before the event. The route may be chosen by each entrant provided public rights of way are used and all checkpoints are visited.
Entry is available for solo participants or pairs. The field is limited to a maximum of 65 participants. Runners and walkers have 15 hours to complete the course. There are three checkpoint locations that will provide snacks and drinks; additional checkpoints include a mystery checkpoint revealed on the course at a marshalled point.
CP locations and pillar positions are sent to participants in advance, and a suggested route map plus a GPX file are provided prior to the event. Participants must be self-supported; no external support crews or support runners/walkers are permitted. All entrants must carry mandatory kit including a map covering the North Yorkshire Moors, working compass and whistle, head-torch and spare torch or batteries, emergency bivvy bag, spare warm clothing, waterproofs with taped seams unless Paramo, charged mobile and charging lead, battery pack, at least 500 ml water, at least 60 g emergency food, and a cup for drinks. Participants sign to confirm they carry the required kit and spot checks may be carried out.
All finishers receive a medal and a certificate. A hot meal and drinks will be provided at the end with vegetarian and gluten free options. Minimum age rules apply for solo and paired entries. Entry fees are £70 per pair or £35 solo. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
