SilverBackTrails Goathland V Trigs
SilverBackTrails Goathland V Trigs is a self navigated ultra distance event held in Goathland in The North York Moors National Park on 18 April 2026. The route starts and finishes at Goathland Village Hall and covers circa 37 miles, visiting five listed Triangulation Pillars in a prescribed order.
The route is chosen by participants provided public rights of way are used. Checkpoint and pillar locations are sent to participants before the event; a suggested route map will be available at registration and a GPX file is supplied in advance. One checkpoint location remains unrevealed until reached on the course and contains an item that must be carried back to the finish.
Participants are self supported, with three checkpoints offering snacks and drinks. No support crews or external support runners or walkers are permitted. Entrants should be competent with map and compass navigation. The maximum time to complete the course is 15 hours and finishers may be required to complete part of the route in darkness.
Required kit must be carried and signed for by all participants and may be spot checked on route. Required items include an appropriate map, working compass, whistle, headtorch and spare light or batteries, emergency bivvy bag, spare warm clothing, waterproofs, phone with charging lead, at least 500 ml of drink, at least 60 g of emergency food and a cup for checkpoint drinks.
Entries are open to solos and pairs, limited to 65 participants. Entry fees are £30 for solos and £60 per pair. Finishers receive a certificate, a memento and a cloth badge. A post event hot meal with vegetarian and gluten free options is provided. Optional event technical T shirt is available for purchase. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
