SilverBackTrails Goathland V Trigs
SilverBackTrails Goathland V Trigs takes place in Goathland in the North York Moors National Park on 17 April 2027. Runners and walkers navigate a course of circa 37 miles that visits five listed triangulation pillars. The event can be entered as a solo participant or as a pair.
The route starts and finishes at Goathland Village Hall. Participants must navigate themselves using public rights of way and visit all checkpoints in the order given before the event. Checkpoint and pillar locations are sent to entrants in advance, a suggested route map is available at registration, and a GPX of the suggested route is provided prior to the event. A mystery checkpoint will be revealed on the course at a marshalled location.
Participants are self supported. Three checkpoint locations will offer snacks and drinks. No support crews or support runners/walkers are allowed. Walkers and runners have 15 hours to complete the course and may have to finish in the dark. Terrain includes a variety of surfaces, open moorland views, and substantial hills. There are no parking facilities at the village hall so participants should use village car parks.
Entry is limited to 65 participants. Entry fees are £70 per pair or £35 per solo entrant. All finishers receive a medal and a certificate. An event technical T shirt is available to buy for £18. Participants must be over 18 unless competing as a pair accompanied by an adult. Required kit includes an OS or Harvey map of the North York Moors, compass and whistle, head torch with spare torch or batteries, emergency bivvy, spare warm clothing, waterproofs with taped seams unless Paramo, charged mobile phone with charger, battery pack, at least 500 ml of water, at least 60 g of emergency food, and a cup for checkpoint drinks. Participants will sign to confirm they carry the required kit and there may be spot checks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
