Course, rules and practical information
Participants navigate themselves using public rights of way and must visit checkpoints in the order given prior to the event. Checkpoint and pillar locations are sent out before the event; a suggested route map and a GPX file are provided. One checkpoint location is not revealed until on course and contains an item that must be carried back to the finish. The course includes varied terrain and hills. There are three checkpoints offering snacks and drinks; otherwise participants are self-supported. Support crews or support runners/walkers are not allowed. Runners and walkers have 15 hours to complete the event and may finish in the dark.
Participants must carry a minimum kit including a map, working compass and whistle, head-torch and spare, emergency bivvy bag, spare warm clothing, waterproofs, phone with charger, at least 500 ml of drink, at least 60 g of emergency food and a cup. All participants sign to confirm they carry the required kit and there may be spot checks. There are no parking facilities at the village hall; use village car parks. Finishers receive a certificate, a memento, a cloth badge and a hot meal with vegetarian and gluten-free options. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
