SilverBackTrails Goathland V Trig Ultra
SilverBackTrails Goathland V Trig Ultra is a self-navigated event starting and finishing at Goathland Village Hall in the North York Moors National Park. Participants follow a course of about 37 miles that visits five listed Triangulation Pillars. The route may be chosen by each entrant provided public rights of way are used; checkpoints must be visited in the order issued before the event.
Entries are accepted for solo participants and for pairs. The event is self-supported, though three checkpoints will offer snacks and drinks. One checkpoint location is withheld until participants are already on the course; that checkpoint contains an item to be recovered and carried back to the finish.
Organisers supply checkpoint coordinates and a suggested route map; a GPX file will be issued before the event and a map will be available at registration. All participants must carry mandatory kit, including a suitable map for the North Yorkshire Moors, a working compass and whistle, head-torch plus spare light or batteries, emergency bivvy, spare warm layers and waterproofs, a battery pack and charging lead for a charged mobile phone, at least 500 ml of drink, at least 60 g of emergency food, and a cup for checkpoint drinks. Participants sign to confirm they carry the required kit and may face spot checks.
The time limit for the course is 15 hours. Support crews and external support runners or walkers are not allowed. Maximum entry is 65 participants. Finishers receive a certificate, a memento and a cloth badge, and a hot meal with vegetarian and gluten-free options is available at the finish.
