Event

SilverBackTrails Goathland V Trig Ultra is scheduled for 18 April 2026, starting and finishing in Goathland in The North York Moors National Park. The event is for runners and walkers and covers approximately circa 37 miles visiting five Triangulation Pillars. It can be entered as a solo participant or as a pair. Entry fees are £30 for solos and £60 per pair. Entries open 22 April 2025 and close 16 April 2026. Entry is limited to a maximum of 65 participants; there were 12 entries at the time of the listing. There are no parking facilities at the village hall; village car parks should be used.

Course, format and requirements

Participants must navigate the course using public rights of way and visit checkpoints (CPs) in the order given. Three CPs will provide snacks and drinks; one CP location will be revealed only while on the course and will contain an item that must be returned to the finish. The event is self-supported; no support crews or support runners/walkers are allowed. Competitors have 15 hours to complete the full course and may finish in the dark. Participants must be over 18 unless paired with an adult. Required kit includes a local OS or Harvey map, working compass and whistle, head-torch plus spare torch or batteries, emergency bivvy bag, spare hat and gloves, warm top, waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams unless Paramo, charged mobile phone and battery pack, at least 500 ml drink, 60 g emergency food and a cup.
