Event
SilverBackTrails Goathland V Trig Ultra is a navigational running and walking event on Saturday 18 April 2026. It starts and finishes at Goathland Village Hall in the North York Moors National Park. The course is approximately 37 miles and visits five listed Triangulation Pillars. The event is open to solo entries or teams of two. Entry is limited to a maximum of 65 participants. Entry fees are £30 for solo entrants and £60 per pair. The event is organised by SilverBack Trails.
Route and navigation
Participants must follow public rights of way and visit checkpoints in the order given before the event. Checkpoint and pillar locations will be provided to participants in advance; a suggested route map and a GPX file will be issued prior to the event and a map will be available at registration. One checkpoint location will be withheld until reached on the course and will include an item that must be returned to the finish. Three checkpoints will offer snacks and drinks. Support crews and support runners or walkers are not allowed.
Logistics and kit
Participants are self-supported and must carry required kit. Required items include a map of the North Yorkshire Moors (OS or Harvey’s), a working compass and whistle, head-torch with spare torch or batteries, emergency bivvy bag, spare warm clothing, waterproof jacket and bottoms with taped seams unless Paramo, a charged mobile phone with a battery pack and emergency contact, at least 500 ml of drink, at least 60 g of emergency food, and a cup for checkpoint drinks. The time limit for the course is 15 hours. All finishers receive a certificate, a memento and a cloth badge, and a hot meal with vegetarian and gluten-free options is provided after the event.
