Shrewsbury Half Marathon & Metric Half Marathon
The event on Sunday 27 September 2026 is a chip-timed road race held at The West Mid Showground in Shrewsbury (SY1 2PF). Two distances are offered:
- Half Marathon 13.1 miles
- Metric Half Marathon 8.1 miles
Routes run through Shrewsbury and pass landmarks such as the Welsh and English Bridge, Kingsland, Porthill, Coleham, The Quarry, Frankwell and the town centre with its medieval buildings. Signage for the races is high-visibility; half marathon runners follow yellow signs with black arrows for the full route. Metric half runners follow alternative blue signs with white arrows at two points where the courses differ.
Entries include a technical finisher t-shirt with male or female fit options, free official race photos, pacers for a range of finish times, a bespoke metal finisher medal, race treats at the finish, and chip-timed results on a measured route. The event is UKA licensed.
Practical details noted by the organisers: participants must be at least 17 years old on race day; transfers to other runners are accepted and there are no deferrals; there are two water stations on the route (half marathon runners pass each twice, metric runners once); strict cut-off times apply (2 hours 45 minutes for the half marathon and 2 hours 20 minutes for the metric half).
