Shrewsbury Half Marathon & Metric Half Marathon
The Shrewsbury Half Marathon and Metric Half Marathon take place on Sunday 27 September 2026, with both races starting and finishing at The West Mid Showground in Shrewsbury (Berwick Road, SY1 2PF). The events use measured, chip timed courses and hold a UKA licence.
The routes pass notable town locations including the Welsh and English Bridge, Kingsland, Porthill, Coleham, The Quarry, Frankwell and the medieval town centre. Route signage is high visibility yellow with black arrows for the half marathon; the metric half follows alternative blue signs with white arrows at two locations, including a divergence at the Welsh Bridge and a different final half mile inside the showground. There are two water stations on the route; half marathon runners pass each twice and metric half runners pass each once.
Included with entry are a technical race souvenir t-shirt with options for ladies or men fit, free official race photos, pacers covering a range of finish times, a bespoke metal finisher medal, race treats at the finish and easy onsite parking. There is an option to plant a tree instead of receiving a finisher t-shirt. Participants must be at least 17 years old. The half marathon has a strict cut off time of 2 hours 45 minutes and the metric half a cut off of 2 hours 20 minutes; runners must be able to complete the course within these times.
