Overview
The Shrewsbury Half & Metric Half Marathon takes place in the West Midlands on Sunday, September 27th, 2026. The event offers two distinct distances starting and finishing at The West Mid Showground. Both courses are UKA licensed and professionally chip-timed.

Course Details
The scenic routes pass through various landmarks in Shrewsbury, including the Welsh Bridge, English Bridge, and The Quarry. Participants run through the town centre, which features medieval buildings and the river. The half marathon course uses high-visibility yellow signage, while specific sections of the metric half marathon are marked with blue signage and white arrows. There are two water stations located along the route.
Participation Requirements
The event is open to participants who are at least 17 years old on race day. Strict cut-off times are enforced by the local council to allow for the reopening of town centre roads:
- Half Marathon: 2 hours 45 minutes.
- Metric Half Marathon: 2 hours 20 minutes.
Participant Amenities
All finishers receive a medal, a treat bag, and a choice between a technical souvenir t-shirt or planting a tree through an environmental initiative. The entry fee also includes free official race photography and the services of a pacing team. Onsite parking is available at the showground for a small charitable fee.
