Course, entries and race features
Both races start and finish at The West Mid Showground and follow town-centre and riverside routes. The Half Marathon route showcases Shrewsbury highlights including the Welsh and English Bridge, Kingsland, Porthill, Coleham, The Quarry, Frankwell, and the town centre with medieval buildings and unique street names. The Metric Half runs along the River Severn, crosses the English and Welsh Bridges, and passes through The Quarry, Kingsland, and Frankwell.
Entries include a technical souvenir t-shirt with men’s and ladies’ fit options, a bespoke metal finisher medal, free official race photos, race treats at the finish, and chip-timed results on a measured, UKA licensed route. The Half Marathon includes pacers. Onsite parking is available. There is an eco-friendly option to plant a tree instead of receiving a finisher’s t-shirt. Runners must be at least 17 years old on race day. Transfers to other runners are accepted until 23:59 on Sunday 6th September 2026; there are no deferrals for the Half Marathon.
