Shore2Shore - East Islip, NY
Shore2Shore is a trail race on the Long Island Greenbelt Trail offering two distance options. The event runs point to point from the North Shore at Sunken Meadow through towns and trail sections to Heckscher State Park on the South Shore.
Distances
- 50K point-to-point on the Long Island Greenbelt Trail
- 25K point-to-point on the Long Island Greenbelt Trail
The course is described as 100% on the Suffolk County Long Island Greenbelt Trail, though some sections run on roads and cross roads. Course markings will guide participants. Fully stocked aid stations will be available with Hyle Hydration, Huma gels, sandwiches, snacks, sodas, candy, and fruit. Crew information for each aid station will be provided later.
Logistics note that parking is at the finish area in Heckscher Park. Bus transport to the start is available for ticket holders, and drop-off at the start line is allowed. A start-line check-in will verify participants who are beginning the course.
The race is sold out and a waitlist is open. Entrants on the waitlist are not charged until a spot is offered; when a spot becomes available an email will offer the option to accept or decline and accepted entries are charged at that time. Registration closes on Wed, Apr 15 at 11:59 PM ET.
Trail work requirements ask each entrant to donate two hours between registration and April 1. Options include volunteering with the Long Island Greenbelt Association, volunteering locally with verification, or donating $20 to the Long Island Greenbelt Trail. Entrants will receive a logoed shirt and a finisher award that may not be a traditional medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
