About the race
Shore2Shore is a point-to-point trail event on Long Island that follows the full length of the Suffolk County Greenbelt Trail between the north and south shores near East Islip, NY. The event offers two distances:
- 50K
- 25K
The route runs from Sunken Meadow on the north shore to Heckscher State Park on the south shore, with the 25K starting at Bow's Meadow. Surface types include mixed trail, roads, bike path, and several road crossings. The 50K accumulates about 1,200 ft of elevation with most climbing in the northern 10 miles; the 25K has substantially less climbing and features a net downhill second half.
The course is marked with pink flagging plus the Greenbelt's white-blaze system. There are five fully stocked aid stations spaced along the route; Skratch Labs products are provided along with PB&J, snacks, candy, fruit, and similar fueling options. 50K runners may use drop bags at the third aid station and at the finish.
Logistics note: parking is located at the finish and shuttle buses transport participants to the start. Packet pickup is available at Smithtown Running Co. on the days before the event and at the starts on race morning. Live tracking is provided on race day.
Entry includes a trail-work requirement: two hours of volunteer or trail work between signup and April 1 or a $20+ donation to the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
