About the race
Shoots and Ladders is an annual running event held in May in Plano, Texas. The race is offered both in person at the Red Tail Pavilion at Oak Point Park and as a virtual event. The route in person runs through Oak Point Park and its nature preserve.

- 5K (in person or virtual)
- 10K (in person or virtual)
All participants receive a race bib, a gender-specific technical shirt, and a finisher medal with blinking lights. Virtual participants receive a shirt, medal, and bib; virtual packets are shipped to the US continental address provided and generally ship about four to six weeks after the event.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Plano Police Association and the Plano Firefighters Association. Both organizations are described as fraternal, benevolent, and charitable 501(c) groups that serve the needs of their members, families, and the wider community.
The event is presented by AMPT Running Co. and appears as part of AMPT’s series of races. The series includes a multi-race challenge that allows participants to combine events in person or virtually for additional series recognition and swag.
