Believe! McKinney 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run
The event is a community run and walk hosted at Dr. Glenn Mitchell Memorial Park and through Historic Downtown McKinney, with a route that passes McKinney’s downtown square. The 5K is a chip timed event using disposable timing chips distributed with race bibs; bibs must be worn visibly on the front for timing. The 1 Mile Fun Run is not timed.
Proceeds benefit Holy Family School. The event is insured and sanctioned by USA Track & Field. Safety rules prohibit pets on the 5K course; pets are allowed in the 1 Mile Fun Run. Strollers are permitted when safely integrated into the event. Use of scooters, roller or inline skates, bicycles, and e-bikes is not allowed in sanctioned events. Race management discourages use of personal music devices so participants can hear race personnel and other runners.
Additional event elements include a kids Santa Chase 100 yard dash where finishers receive candy canes, packet pickup on race morning at Sugarbacon on Virginia across from Mitchell Park, and awards for the 5K: overall male and female, masters male and female, and top three in each age group. Event items include t-shirts and finisher medals. Organizers reserve the right to modify the course or cancel for safety or severe weather.
