Shoe Science Turkey Trot 5K : Aberdeen, SD
The Shoe Science Turkey Trot is a community 5K taking place on Thanksgiving morning in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The course is 5K (3.1 miles) and starts and finishes at Shoe Science, 315 S Main Street. The event is described as a casual, untimed trot; there will be no official timing or results.
This is the event's second year. Packet pick up and check in are available the day before the event and on the morning of the event at Shoe Science. The registration fee is $25.00 and registrations received before November 12 are guaranteed a long sleeve shirt. One hundred percent of registration proceeds will be used to purchase Angel Tree gifts for local children and families; additional donations are also accepted to expand that support.
Participants should note that roads will remain open to traffic and only limited volunteers will staff some intersections. The event is a participate-at-your-own-risk activity and participants are expected to take responsibility for their own safety. After the trot, light refreshments and community time will be available at Shoe Science. Festive Thanksgiving attire such as turkey or pilgrim costumes is mentioned as part of the event atmosphere.
