Shiprock Marathon
The Shiprock Marathon weekend takes place in Shiprock, New Mexico on May 1 and May 2, 2026, with events centered at the Shiprock Youth Center and nearby roads and trails. The program includes road and trail distances, a team 5K, fun runs for elders, charity bib options, and a hand cycle marathon. Packet pick-up is handled at the Shiprock Youth Center parking lot on the day before the main races and again on race morning.

The course is an out-and-back road route that offers views of Shiprock Pinnacle and a long gentle downhill on the return. Aid stations are provided approximately every mile and include gels, fresh fruit, Gatorade, water, and other snacks; portajohns and medical support are placed along the route. A team scoring option for the 5K follows cross country style and requires five runners to qualify for team awards. Finish amenities include a snack box, beverages, food vendors, live music, and medals for Marathon and Half Marathon finishers. Overall and five year age-group awards are presented; awards may include medallions, plaques, and Native arts and crafts.
