Shiprock Marathon, 44th Annual
The Shiprock Marathon weekend takes place in Shiprock, New Mexico on April 30 and May 1, 2027, centered at the Shiprock Youth Center. The event program spans two days and includes road and trail races, wheelchair competition, a relay, and short community runs.
Events and distances include:
- Marathon, 26.22 miles
- Half Marathon, 13.11 miles
- 5K Trail Race
- The Natani Mile, 1 mile
- Elder Run, 2 miles
- Marathon Triple Crown, 30 miles
- Half Marathon Triple Crown, 17 miles
- Marathon relay and hand cycle marathon
The main marathon and half marathon use an out-and-back road course with views of Shiprock Pinnacle and a gentle long downhill slope on the return. Aid stations are available about every mile and offer gels, fresh fruit, Gatorade, water, and snacks. Portajohns and medical support are positioned along the course and at the finish. Live music and course support are scheduled along the route.
Awards are presented to overall and age-group winners in five-year increments, and all marathon and half marathon finishers receive medals. Packet pick-up is organized at the Shiprock Youth Center parking area on the day before the races and again on race morning. Charity bib options are available with fundraising minimums that waive registration fees for selected races, subject to verification.
