Event overview
The Shiprock Marathon takes place May 1-2, 2026 in Shiprock, New Mexico, with the Shiprock Youth Center as the start/finish area. This is the 43rd annual running of the event. The course is USATF certified and serves as a Boston qualifier and a qualifier for the Abbott Marathon Majors Masters World Championships. Proceeds benefit year-round outdoor adventure programs for Diné youth and families.

Course and logistics
The road course is out-and-back with views of Shiprock Pinnacle and a gentle long downhill on the return. Aid stations are available every mile on the marathon and half marathon courses and supply gels, fresh fruit, Gatorade, water, and snacks. Portajohns and medical support are available along the route and at the finish. Results and timing are provided by a professional timing team with results accessible at the finish area.
The 5K is a trail race on the Blueberry Hill course beginning and ending at the Youth Center. The Elder Run is a fun-run style event open to ages 60-110; finishers receive a medal. Team scoring is offered for the 5K and requires five runners per team. Awards are given to overall and age-group top finishers, with age groups in five-year increments.
