About the race
The 44th Annual Shiprock Marathon takes place April 30 and May 1, 2027 at the Shiprock Youth Center in Shiprock, New Mexico. The event weekend includes road and trail races, relay and wheelchair categories, and charity bib options. Distances and event types include: - Marathon - 26.22 Miles - Half Marathon - 13.11 Miles - 5K Trail Race - 5K - Marathon Triple Crown - 30 Miles - Half Marathon Triple Crown - 17 Miles - Ashlynne Mike Mile - 1 Mile - Elder Run - 2 Miles - Hand Cycle Marathon - 26.2 Miles - Marathon Relay and other relay options The course is an out-and-back road route with views of Shiprock Pinnacle and a long gentle downhill on the return. The marathon course is USATF certified and listed as a Boston qualifier; it is also a qualifier for the Abbott Marathon Majors Masters World Championships.
Aid stations are provided approximately every mile and will include gels, fresh fruit, Gatorade, water, and snacks. Portajohns and medical support are available along the route. Race timing is provided by Rocky Mountain Timing and results are posted at the finish area. Packet pick-up is organized at the Shiprock Youth Center.
Team races score like cross country and require a team of five to qualify for team awards. Charity bibs are available with specified fundraising minimums and related conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
