The SHAY 5K Run/Walk is a 5K run/walk scheduled for Saturday, November 28, 2026. The event is held at La Vina Middle School, 1331 Browning Rd, Delano, CA. It is presented as an annual event connected to Thanksgiving; historically it took place on Thanksgiving morning and was moved to the Saturday after Thanksgiving in a recent year.
Organizer, amenities and awards
The event is organized by Spreading Help Around You, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2014 to support families after a loss, to promote preparedness, and to promote pedestrian safety. The organization has established a SHAY Scholarship Program.
All participants receive an event T-shirt, a race bib, and a custom finisher medallion. The timed 5K includes age-group awards; the first 100 participants receive a custom finisher medallion. Children 10 and under are registered at a special rate. Packet pickup has been held at the Delano Chamber of Commerce (931 High St, Delano, CA) for prior editions.
