SHAY 5K Run/Walk
The SHAY 5K Run/Walk is an annual community 5K organized by Spreading Help Around You, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 2014 in memory of a local youth who died in 2012. The organization’s mission includes support for families who have lost a loved one, education about preparedness during loss, community service, and pedestrian safety. The group also launched the SHAY Scholarship Program to support education.
The event is a timed 5K run/walk with age group awards. Participants receive an event T-shirt, a custom finisher’s medallion, and a race bib; bib numbers will be dynamically assigned. The first 150 participants receive a custom finisher’s medal. Children 10 and under are offered a special registration rate automatically.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the event at the Delano Chamber of Commerce, 931 High St., Delano, CA 93215. There is late packet pickup and on-site registration on event day. The race takes place at La Vina Middle School, 1331 Browning Rd., Delano, CA 93215. Team participation is supported; entrants may join or create a team.
