Shamrock Scurry 5K/1Mile

The Shamrock Scurry 5K/1Mile is an annual road race held at Killearn Methodist Church in Tallahassee, Florida. The event began in 1981 and is described as one of the city’s oldest recurring races. Registration includes a post race pancake breakfast and the event directs proceeds to local charities, youth rehabilitation efforts, and feeding programs. The race regularly attracts around 1,000 regional runners.

Event entries include:

  • 5K
  • 1 Mile Fun Run

The race is part of a Grand Prix series with the 1 Mile designated for youth only and the 5K open to both adults and youth. The course starts near the church on Roscommon Drive and passes through residential areas and along the Killearn Country Club golf course. Organizers follow most of the original course route, which many in the running community remember as "good but tough" and which still features the section known as Scurry Hill near mile 2.

Packet pickup is available at Killearn Methodist Church with scheduled times on Thursday 4:00-7:00pm, Friday 11:00am-2:00pm, or Saturday at 7:00am. The event location is 2800 Shamrock Street South, Tallahassee FL 32309. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
