Sgt. Ruff's Color Run (Lenoir, NC)
Sgt. Ruff's Color Run is a charity color run and fun run held at the City of Lenoir Greenway with the start and finish at the Lenoir Rotary Soccer Complex parking lot. The event supports Shepherds for Sheepdogs, a 501(c)(3) that purchases professionally trained service dogs for disabled veterans and first responders; 100 percent of the proceeds go to the dog and hero pair.
Race formats:
- Big Dawg (5K)
- Pup Run (1 mile)
Both races begin with a color party and use food-grade colored powder at multiple color points along the out-and-back course. The Pup Run includes two additional color points and the Big Dawg includes four. All registered participants receive a white Sgt. Ruff T-shirt, a bandana, sunglasses, and an individual color bomb; finishers receive a custom dog tag medal. A VIP Big Dawg ticket includes an extra color bomb, a sticker pack, and a special edition shirt. A family ticket offers discounts for four or more participants living at the same address.
Additional notes: the event is dog friendly but dogs must be leashed. Volunteers will attempt to keep some runners free of color, but avoiding color cannot be guaranteed on the narrow greenway.
