About the race
The second annual Sgt. Ruff's Color Run is a community color run and fun run held on November 7, 2026 in Lenoir, North Carolina. The event takes place on the City of Lenoir Greenway, a paved out-and-back course that starts and finishes at the Lenoir Rotary Soccer Complex parking lot. Runners and walkers pass through multiple color points and begin with a color party.
Distances and event types:
- 5K Big Dawg running race
- 1 mile Pup Run fun run
All race registrants receive a race tee, a bandana, sunglasses, an individual color bomb, and finishers receive a custom dog tag medal. The Big Dawg offers an optional VIP upgrade with an extra color bomb, a sticker pack, and a special edition shirt. A family ticket is available for groups of four or more living at the same address. Ages five and under may register free; race items are not included for that age group.
The event benefits Shepherds for Sheepdogs, a 501(c)(3) that provides professionally trained service dogs for disabled veterans and first responders, with 100 percent of proceeds going to each dog and hero pairing. The day includes vendor booths, a K9 demonstration, a presentation of colors, opportunities for pet adoptions, a tie dye booth and onsite swag sales. The event is dog friendly; dogs must remain leashed with a six foot maximum lead and runners are asked to use a four foot lead when passing color stations.
