Sgt. Ruff's Color Run
Sgt. Ruff's Color Run takes place on November 7, 2026, in Lenoir, North Carolina at 1050 Zacks Fork Rd. The event benefits Shepherds for Sheepdogs, a 501(c)(3) organization in Lenoir that purchases professionally trained service dogs for disabled veterans and first responders; 100% of proceeds support the dog-and-hero pairs. The City of Lenoir Parks and Rec is listed as a partner.

The course uses the City of Lenoir Greenway with the start and finish at the Lenoir Rotary Soccer Complex parking lot. Colored, food-grade, non-toxic powder is applied from start to finish. The Pup Run course includes two additional color points and the Big Dawg course includes four color points. The Pup Run is untimed with no bib, no chip, and no age limits.
All race registrants receive a white Sgt. Ruff T-shirt, a bandana, sunglasses, and an individual color bomb. Finishers receive a custom dog tag medal. VIP Big Dawg tickets include two additional individual color bombs, a sticker pack, and a special edition Sgt. Ruff T-shirt. A Family Ticket is available for four participants living at the same address; it is not eligible for VIP benefits.
Awards are given 1st through 3rd overall for men and women, and 1st through 3rd in multiple age groups by gender. T-shirt size requests close November 1. Online registration cuts off November 4, and day-of registration will be cash only. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
