About the race
The Sgt. Nevada Krinkee Memorial 5k is a memorial running event at Thorne Rider Park in Sheridan, WY on September 26, 2026. The race was created by the family of Sgt. Nevada Krinkee to remember his service. The 2026 race is the third annual event and its primary recipient of profits is the Sheridan Dog and Cat Shelter.

- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk
The 5K is timed for all ages. The 1 mile fun run is timed for youth 12 and under and untimed for participants 13 and up. Participants may enter individually or form teams; team awards include fastest team based on the top three times and largest team. Individuals entered on a team remain eligible for individual awards.
Award divisions for the 5K include overall male and female champions and 1st to 3rd place in age divisions for men and women. The 1 mile event awards youth ages 4 to 12 in age divisions and gives medals to all youth finishers; the adult fun run is non-competitive and untimed.
Included items and on-site features noted by the organizer include a race T-shirt with no shirt guarantee for registrations after September 10, police K9 demonstrations, a Beyond the Call of Duty EOW memorial presence, and a kid fun zone with inflatables.
