6th Annual Memorial Run

The Sgt Chris Hampton Memorial 5k takes place in Dearborn, Michigan, at the 500 Monroe location. Established in 2021 by the Dearborn Police Officer’s Charity, this event serves to honor the memory of a fallen colleague and raise awareness for mental health issues, specifically among first responders. The run is held in a park setting during the month of May to coincide with the conclusion of National Police Week.

Participants can choose from the following event options:

  • Sgt. Chris Hampton Memorial 5k
  • Sgt. Chris Hampton Memorial Virtual 5k

The event is known for its annual themes based on films from the 1980s and 1990s. Following past themes such as Robo Cop, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, and Rocky, the current edition features a theme inspired by the movie The Big Lebowski.

Proceeds from the event support various service organizations and charities focused on mental health and suicide prevention. The primary beneficiary for this edition is First H.E.L.P., an organization dedicated to reducing mental health stigma for first responders through education and advocacy. Other supported groups include the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), Michigan Concerns of Police Survivors, and the Barb Smith Suicide Resource & Response Network. The event is organized in partnership with the City of Dearborn and Trivium Racing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
