Seymour Sprint
Seymour Sprint takes place on Saturday 16 May along Jersey's south-east coast, based at Longbeach (Grouville) in front of Sandy Park, at the north end of Longbeach Car Park. Parking is available at Longbeach car park, on the coast road, or at Gorey Pier. Local buses 1, 1a, 2 and 2a stop nearby.
Distances
- 10 km runner: trail route across intertidal zone, return via Seymour Slip.
- 6 km runner: beach run from Longbeach to Seymour Slip and back.
- 6 km stroll: leisurely beach walk from Longbeach to Seymour Slip and back.
Runner registration is pre-registration only; there is no sign-up on the day for runners. Registration closes Friday 15 May at 18:00. T-shirts, hoodies and zoodies are available to order until Thursday 30 April and are collected on race day; a £10 discount on child sizes is applied automatically.
The 10 km route crosses coastal and intertidal terrain and is physically demanding; runners must be able to complete the distance in under 90 minutes. Children aged 8 to 13 must be accompanied by an adult for the full distance; children aged 14 and over may run independently. Gender options at registration include M, F and Prefer Not to Say and results are listed by these categories.
All routes are marshalled and first aiders will be present. Dogs are welcome but should be kept under control and away from birdlife. The course crosses a protected Ramsar intertidal site; participants should not turn over rocks, disturb birds, or leave litter and should use bins at the gazebo, Seymour Tower, or Longbeach car park. Fundraising pages are created automatically via RaceNation entries and additional donations are welcome. Philip's Footprints may postpone or cancel the event in unsafe weather. Finishers receive a medal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
