Self Transcendence 24 Hour Track Race and British 24 Hour Championships
This annual 24 hour track race is held each September at Millennium Stadium, Battersea Park, London, and incorporates the British 24 Hour Championships for 2026. The event is run under UK Athletics rules and holds an IAU Bronze Label and a UK Athletics Level 2 permit.
Entry is restricted to experienced ultra runners with recent race experience of at least 100K distance or a 12 hour event. The field is limited to 55 competitors; selection is based on previous experience and potential and a waiting list is maintained. Race entries for 2026 open on 4 February 2026.
Competitors complete as many 400 metre laps as possible in 24 hours. Direction changes occur at set intervals during the race. Official support includes lap counters, sports physiotherapists, trackside refreshments and race officials. Trackside facilities include parking, space for tents or support stations, a large tent for kit bags with tables and limited chairs, heated indoor changing rooms and a physio treatment room, and trackside toilets. Evening and morning meals and continuous refreshments are provided.
Live results and split times are published. Race rules prohibit pacing by helpers on the track and restrict phone and headphone use on inner lanes. At the finish competitors mark a final stride with a supplied bean bag and awards are presented after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
