The Seattle Atatürk Unity Run is the inaugural community running event held at Gas Works Park with courses along the Burke-Gilman Trail in Seattle, WA. The event marks May 19 and commemorates Youth and Sports Day as well as the 145th birthday of the founder of the Republic of Turkey. The route area offers views of Lake Union and the city skyline.
Distances and formats include:
- 5K Run/Walk
- 10K Run/Walk
- Kids Dash (200 yards)
- Virtual 5K
- Virtual 10K
- Sip N Stroll 5K walking-only
On-site courses start and finish at Gas Works Park and follow the paved Burke-Gilman Trail. The 5K and 10K are described as flat and paved. The Kids Dash is a non-competitive 200-yard run for children aged five and under near the start/finish area. Many on-site options welcome runners and walkers; strollers are permitted with a request to start toward the back.
Event features listed by the organizer apply to several distances: all participants receive a race bib, finisher medals are provided, and a guaranteed event t-shirt is available for registrations completed by May 1. Virtual options allow participants to run or walk a chosen route during event weekend and to track activity with a personal app or device.
