Overview
This event combines a public 5K run and a police K-9 competition on the same day. A K-9 officer foundation is hosting the events in honor of a fallen officer. Proceeds will support the foundation's mission and help fund K9 departments around the country.
The 140 Challenge pairs a 5K run with an optional fitness challenge. The fitness portion requires 140 repetitions of each of four bodyweight exercises to reflect a badge number and years of service: sit-ups, squats, push-ups, and lunges. Each exercise may be completed by type or as four rounds of 35 reps per circuit. Awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers for the run.
The K9 Trials are a police K-9 competition restricted to K-9 officers. The trials include four events: Open Area Search, Vehicles, Obedience (obstacle course), and Hard Dog/Fast Dog. Awards are presented for each category and for the overall Top Dog. A combined entry option for both the fitness challenge and K9 trials is available for K-9 officers.
Location and access: the events take place at the Wayne County Fairgrounds in Richmond, Indiana. Spectators may attend and watch the events free of charge.
