Event Overview
The Seafair Triathlon takes place at Seward Park in Seattle, on the shores of Lake Washington. The event features a flat and fast course roughly 10 minutes from downtown Seattle. Participants swim in the protected waters of Andrews Bay, ride on closed roadways, and run through the park's scenic pathways.
Available Distances
The event includes several categories and distances for adults and children:
- Sprint Triathlon: 0.5 mile swim, 20 km bike, and 5 km run.
- Sprint Duathlon: 20 km bike and 5 km run.
- Super Sprint Triathlon: 0.25 mile swim, 20 km bike, and 5 km run.
- Kids Long Course: 100 yard swim, 2 mile bike, and 1 mile run.
- Kids Short Course: 50 yard swim, 1 mile bike, and 0.5 to 0.75 mile run.
- Sprint Relay: Available for teams of 2 or 3 people.
Course Details
The swim occurs in a counter-clockwise direction within a cove protected from wind and motorized boats. Lifeguards are present on-site during the swim. The bike course travels north from Seward Park along Lake Washington Blvd, passing through the neighborhoods of Leschi, Madrona, and Madison Park. The route is mostly flat with one hill. The run follows a loop around Seward Park, including an out-and-back section on the upper loop.
Participant Information
Registered athletes have access to a supervised transition area. Bike mechanics are available on-site for pre-race adjustments. Participants receive an event shirt, a finisher medal, a swim cap, and a timing chip. Professional race photos are provided for digital download after the event.
