Sea Lion Stride: 5K and 10K
Organized by the Aquarium of Niagara, this road/trail event on September 26, 2026 takes place at Niagara Falls, NY and supports the aquarium's pinniped programs.
The event offers two distances:
- 5K course runs on the New York State Parks trail along the Niagara Gorge.
- 10K continues along the same trail to a turnaround at Devil's Hole State Park.
Runners, walkers, and strollers may participate. Children under six participate for free when accompanied by a parent. Participants who register by September 10 receive an official Sea Lion Stride t-shirt; a small quantity of extra shirts will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
Awards include a certificate for a free animal encounter for the overall top male and female in both the 5K and 10K, and a special painting created by a sea lion for top finishers in each age group. An afterparty is held at Whirlpool Commons; registration includes admission to the Aquarium and Great Lakes 360.
Registration fees are listed by distance and age category. Fee examples from the event: 5K pre-registration fees are $20 for ages 7-18 and $30 for adults 18 and older, with a $35 day-of rate; 10K pre-registration for adults is $40 with a $45 day-of rate.
A virtual race app option is available that uses a phone GPS to track events and upload verified times automatically. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
