Event overview
The SBM Stride for Science is a timed 5K Run/Walk held on April 23, 2026, in Grant Park, Chicago. The route runs along Lake Michigan and passes landmarks such as the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, and Soldier Field. A shorter route option is marked at the Adler Planetarium for a one-mile loop. Both runners and walkers may participate. Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers at the Presidential Keynote & Awards Ceremony on the event day.

Registration is open with a minimum $40 donation that guarantees a run/walk shirt, sunglasses, and race bib. Packet pick-up is available on Wednesday, April 22 at the SBM Annual Meeting Registration Desk in the Hilton Chicago and on race day at the start/finish area in Grant Park. Volunteer roles are organized by SBM's Physical Activity SIG and include directing participants, managing water stations, leading warm-ups, pacing the field, and event photography.
