Saydel Sprint 5K
The Saydel Sprint is a free community event on May 16, 2026 at the Saydel High School football field in Des Moines, Iowa. The event combines a 5K walk and run with a community day of food and family activities.
The 5K walk and run uses the Saydel High cross country course and begins on the football field. The event is open to all ages and to walkers as well as runners. Water stations are available along the course. Participants check in at the registration table to receive a racing bib. Every participant receives a free medal.
Food and activities are provided during the community portion of the event. Free items listed include burgers, hot dogs, drinks and sno cones. Onsite activities include bounce houses, a dunk tank, face painting and a photo booth. Attendees may come and go as they wish. Childcare is not provided and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
