Saturnalia
Saturnalia is a Rock Candy Running year-end trail race held at Squaxin Park in Olympia, WA on 12 December 2026. The roughly 10K course begins and ends at the Reeves Middle School track and follows school grounds, Eastbay Drive and most of the park's upper and lower loops, including the Ellis Cove trail. The route passes views of Puget Sound and the Capitol above downtown Olympia.
The event includes a fully stocked finish-area aid station with water, oranges, holiday treats and hot beverages. Participants receive a finisher medal made by Wolfmother Workshop, a finisher gift, a limited edition race sticker and finish line high fives. Safety and medical support are provided. Rock Candy Running plants one tree for each finisher through One Tree Planted.
Organizers do not enforce a course cutoff and walking is permitted. The event is cupless to reduce waste; participants are asked to bring a collapsible cup or may purchase one at packet pickup. Race packets can be picked up on race day at Reeves Middle School and a pre-race briefing will be held at the start line. Restrooms are available at the Reeves gym and recycling and food waste bins will be provided. Parking is available at Reeves; additional overflow parking will be announced before the event. The trails in Squaxin Park remain open to other users during the race and participants are asked to share the trail. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
