Saturnalia - December 12, 2026
Saturnalia is a 10K trail race in Olympia, Washington, held in Squaxin Park. The event starts and finishes at the gym and track of Reeves Middle School in Olympia's Eastside neighborhood. The course winds through the park woods, uses most of the park trails, and offers views of the Puget Sound and the Capitol above downtown Olympia.
The event is named after the ancient Roman holiday Saturnalia, which historically involved merry making, gift giving, and role reversal. The organizers note that the race does not include ancient rituals. Times are tracked but there are no podiums; all finishers receive awards with medals. The aid station is stocked with holiday treats.
The event is operated by Rock Candy Running, which also organizes Beast of Big Creek and Little Backyard Adventure. Registration closes on Wednesday, December 9 at 11:59 PM PT. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
