About the race
The Meerkat Meander is a seven hour Time Challenge event organised by Saturn Running at The Last Hop in Staines, on a stretch of the River Thames. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and is held under UK Athletics rules; UK Athletics club members are eligible for a small entry discount. Entry prices vary by distance.
The format gives participants full control over distance within the seven hour window. The minimum recognised finishing distance is 3 km. A full lap is described as 7 km (about 4.37 miles) though the course may be altered for safety. Laps include a 3 km turn point and a 5 km turn point to accommodate age-based distance rules. The course runs along mainly well made paths and tarmac with a short grass section, is fully signed, and road shoes are suitable year round. Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal; additional distance pins are issued for half marathon distance and above. There is a goody bag option including a vegan selection, and an aid table with drinks and snacks at the start/finish of each lap. Members receive lower entry pricing, guaranteed entry and a mini medal pin. Venue facilities include toilets; parking is available at Bridge Street Car Park, Staines. A nonsecure bag drop is available and headphones are permitted. Final race information and number collection details are issued by email before the event.
