The Zipping Zebra Run
The Zipping Zebra Run is a 7 hour Time Challenge held by Saturn Running at The Last Hop in Staines. The event uses a signed loop along a stretch of the River Thames and allows participants to choose how many laps to complete, subject to UK Athletics age restrictions and rules. The course is mainly well made paths and tarmac with a very short grass section; road shoes are suitable. The regular course may be adjusted after a health and safety review.
Distances and structure include:
- Minimum 3 km as the official finisher distance.
- Lap normally 7 km (4.37 miles); may change to a 3.28 mile loop.
- 3 km and 5 km turn points within the lap.
- Half marathon is 3 laps.
- Marathon is 6 laps.
- Ultra is 7 or more laps; 50 km option available.
Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Distance pins are issued for half-marathon and longer distances; members receive a mini-me medal pin at events. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules; affiliated club members receive a small entry discount. Members are offered a lower entry price and guaranteed entry.
Support and facilities include an aid and drinks table at the start/finish of each lap with vegan options, goody bags with a vegan choice if requested, toilets at The Last Hop suitable for changing, on-site parking at Bridge Street Car Park, a non-secure bag drop, and permission to use headphones. The route is on public footpaths so participants should be considerate of other users. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
