This event at Dare Valley Country Park, Aberdare is held in honour of a country and pop icon who passed away in August 2026. The organiser describes the event as inclusive and open to walkers as well as runners.
The format is a 7 hour Time Challenge that allows participants to choose how far they run. The minimum official finishing distance is 3 km. A full lap is listed as 4.37 miles or 7 km, with a possible change to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. There are 3 km and 5 km turn points within the lap to assist compliance with UK Athletics age rules. Typical lap counts given are 3 laps for a half marathon, 6 for a marathon and 7 or more for an ultra; a 50 km option is available. The regular course may change after a health and safety review.
The route runs around Dare Valley Country Park on well maintained footpaths with countryside views and is described as suitable for a road trainer. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules.
Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Distance pins are issued for half-marathon and longer achievements, including Half-Marathon, Mega-Half, Marathon, 50 km and Ultra pins. Finishers receive a goody bag with a vegan option. Aid tables at the start/finish of each lap provide drinks, sweet and savoury snacks and ice cream options.
Venue facilities include toilets and a nearby cafe; there are no separate changing rooms or showers. Free parking is available. A bag drop is provided but is not a secure storage area. Bone conducting headphones only are permitted. Membership benefits include a £10 lower entry price, guaranteed entry and a mini-me medal pin, while members of UK Athletics affiliated clubs receive a £2 entry discount.
