Sasquatch Shuffle : Mission Tejas State Park, Grapeland TX
Sasquatch Shuffle is a trail running festival held at Mission Tejas State Park in Grapeland, Texas. The event offers looped trail distances with a 500 runner maximum capacity. All finishers receive medals and event merchandise.
Distances and loop structure:
- 100k - 10 loops
- 50k - 5 loops
- 30k - 3 loops
- 10k - 2 loops
- 5k - 1 loop
The course runs on varied single track with straw pine lanes, winding downhills, and CCC-built rock stairs. The route includes sustained climbing on the outward sections and descending on the return, producing notable elevation change. GPX files and elevation data are provided for the routes.
Aid support is concentrated at main locations (after Loop A at 3.2 and after Loop B at 6.1). Aid stations are full service and stock drinks, sodas, sweet and salty snacks, simple hot foods, medical supplies, and feminine care products. The race operates cupless aid stations; participants are expected to use reusable cups, bottles, or hydration packs. Drop bags are allowed only at the main aid station tarp area.
Pacing and crew rules: pacers are permitted in the 100k solo event only after 50k or once night falls, and must sign a waiver and wear a pacing bib. Crew access is limited to the main aid station.
Free camping is available Friday and Saturday in park areas, with showers at the start/finish. Park entry for this special event is collected at packet pickup and is three dollars per person for those aged 12 and over.
Awards include top finishers by distance, relay teams, and masters categories, with male, female, and non-binary classifications. Volunteer shifts are offered and include park entry, camping space, event merchandise, and a meal, with additional registration incentives for repeat shifts.
